Here is a compilation of the Good Friday, Silent Saturday and Resurrection Sunday YouTube paint-with-me videos from the last few years.
This is a beautiful time of year, celebrating the foundation and joy of our faith: Jesus fulfilling his purpose here on earth, to extend eternal life to each and every person through union with Him.
Because of Jesus we have access to God, forgiveness of sins and union with Jesus, each and every day.
Good Friday Paint-with-Me Session
Use this simple Good Friday watercolor to journal and write your prayers, either on the back of the watercolor or on the cross, as is done here.
I used a 6x9 inch size watercolor paper, 140lb. You can use a smaller or larger size - it is a very adaptable sketch.
Keep a soft cloth or paper towel to blot off excess paint. You may want to allow the sky to dry before painting the buildings so the colors don't smear! I didn't mind that it was a bit messy, but it will come out "cleaner" with a little dry time inserted.
"Yet it was our weakness he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all."
Isaiah 53:4-6 (NLT)
I wrote a blog post to go with the paint-with-me session for the Silent Saturday YT video.
Easter Daffodils & Lilies
Besides the video on the top of this post, there was an additional video of a single lily created for Resurrection Sunday as well.
The contrast of the yellow and purple along with the green seem perfect symbolically for Easter. Purple showing the royalty and divinity of Jesus, yellow reflecting his light, and green reflecting life, everlasting life.
Daffodils can be a bit challenging to sketch and paint. I think painting their side view is a bit easier.
If you have lemon yellow on your palette, it will work beautifully to give your daffodils a bright, luminous glow.
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep...
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I will give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand."
John 10: 11, 28 ESV
An Easter Collage with Verse + Flowers
This one is a two part project, creating the watercolor flowers, then painting and creating the canvas for the collage.
It is an endeavor, but a project to be remembered! This might be an idea for a beloved bible verse you would like to create canvas art for.
Happy Easter! He is risen, indeed!
